Gong alternatives.
Gong is the category leader in revenue intelligence and it earned that position. Most teams looking for an alternative are not looking because the product failed. They are looking because of cost, because rep adoption stalled, or because they discovered that recording and analysing calls is a different job from changing what happens on the next one. Those are three different problems and they point at three different replacements. Below is the honest map, including the cases where staying on Gong is the right answer.
We build one of the 9 tools on this list. We have marked which one, and we have written the reasons not to pick it.
Why teams look for a Gong alternative
- Total cost. Per-seat licensing sits on top of a platform fee, an implementation fee, and typically a two to three year term. Public reviews repeatedly describe the effective cost landing well above the advertised per-seat rate.
- Rep adoption. A recurring theme in low-star public reviews is reps resisting the tool because it feels like monitoring. A recording platform nobody opens produces no coaching.
- Sequencing expectations. Gong Engage exists, but several public reviews from teams who bought it for outbound sequencing describe it as a weaker fit than dedicated sequencing tools.
- The analysis-to-action gap. Knowing that a call went badly is not the same as the rep doing something different on the next one. Some teams leave looking for the second half of that loop.

Most shortlists get built before anyone names the actual problem. Find your row first.
| If this is your situation | Then look at |
|---|---|
| You need call recording and coaching, and cost is the only problem | Look at Avoma, Fathom, or Clari Copilot. Same core job, materially lower price point. You will trade away some depth of analytics and enterprise integration. |
| You bought Gong mainly for outbound sequencing | You bought the wrong tool for that job. Salesloft, Outreach, or Apollo are purpose-built for it, and this is the single most common complaint in public Gong reviews. |
| You want one vendor across recording, coaching, sequences, and forecasting, and you have a RevOps team | Stay on Gong. Nothing else on this list consolidates as much under one contract, and the consolidation is worth real money if you have the team to configure it. |
| Your reps will not adopt it, and coaching never actually happens | The problem is not the recording layer, so replacing it with another recording layer will not fix it. Look at execution tools where the output arrives as drafted work in the rep's flow instead of a report a manager has to open. |
| You have no head of RevOps and multi-quarter rollouts are not realistic | Weight time-to-value heavily. Ask every vendor for a named date when it is running on live deals, and treat any answer measured in quarters as a no. |
The 9 alternatives
Chorus by ZoomInfo
Conversation intelligenceThe closest like-for-like to Gong's core recording and analysis product, bundled into the ZoomInfo go-to-market platform.
- Best for
- Teams already paying for ZoomInfo, where conversation intelligence can ride along on an existing contract instead of becoming a new line item.
- Watch out
- The value case is strongest as part of the wider ZoomInfo suite. As a standalone purchase the comparison to Gong gets harder.
Clari Copilot
Conversation intelligence + forecastingConversation intelligence attached to Clari's forecasting and revenue-operations platform, so call signals feed the forecast directly.
- Best for
- Organisations where the forecast is the centre of gravity and the CRO cares more about pipeline accuracy than about call coaching.
- Watch out
- You are buying into the Clari platform, not just a recorder. Priced and scoped accordingly.
Avoma
Meeting assistant + conversation intelligenceNotes, transcription, and conversation analytics at a mid-market price point, with a usable free tier.
- Best for
- Small and mid-size teams who want most of the recording and coaching value without an enterprise platform fee.
- Watch out
- Less depth in enterprise analytics and integrations than Gong. Fine for a 20-rep team, thinner at 200.
Fathom
Meeting recorderA fast, well-liked meeting recorder and summariser with a genuinely free tier.
- Best for
- Founders and small teams who need recordings and summaries and do not yet need a coaching programme built on top of them.
- Watch out
- This is a recorder, not a revenue-intelligence platform. If you need scoring, coaching workflow, and pipeline signal, you will outgrow it.
Salesloft
Sales engagement + conversation intelligenceA sequencing and engagement platform with conversation intelligence built in, covering both jobs in one contract.
- Best for
- Outbound-heavy teams whose primary need is sequencing, with call analysis as a secondary requirement.
- Watch out
- The conversation-intelligence half is less deep than Gong's. You are optimising for the outbound motion.
Outreach
Sales execution platformEnterprise sequencing and sales execution with deal management and forecasting layered on.
- Best for
- Large outbound organisations that need enterprise-grade sequencing and administrative control.
- Watch out
- Enterprise pricing and enterprise configuration effort. Overkill for a small team.
Apollo
Prospecting + engagementContact data, sequencing, dialling, and basic call recording in a single low-cost platform.
- Best for
- Early-stage teams who need prospect data and outbound sequencing on one bill, with recording as a bonus.
- Watch out
- Breadth over depth. The call-analysis layer is not comparable to a dedicated conversation-intelligence product.
Mindtickle
Sales readiness + enablementA sales readiness and enablement platform with a conversation-intelligence layer added to it.
- Best for
- Organisations whose real problem is onboarding, certification, and structured skill development at scale.
- Watch out
- Different centre of gravity. If you want call analytics first and training second, the shape is wrong.
Sales Kriya
Agentic execution layerThat is usAn agent fleet that works the open deal rather than reporting on it: per-deal strategy, a playbook check after every interaction, and the next email or call script drafted ready to send. Optionally paired with a senior sales operator embedded in the team for 6 to 12 months.
- Best for
- Founders, first-time CROs, and revenue leaders without a head of RevOps, at organisations under roughly 100 reps, who want the output to be work a rep can send rather than a dashboard a manager has to interpret.
- Watch out
- Newer and smaller than everything else on this list. No three-year historical call library to inherit. If your procurement process requires a vendor your security team has already approved, that is a real reason to pick an incumbent.
Questions buyers actually ask
What is the cheapest Gong alternative?
Fathom has a free tier and Avoma's paid plans start well below enterprise conversation-intelligence pricing. Both cover recording, transcription, and summaries. Neither replaces the enterprise analytics, integration depth, or coaching workflow that Gong's price buys, so the honest framing is that they are cheaper because they do less, not because they are better value at every size.
Can I keep Gong and add something on top?
Yes, and for teams with several years of call history this is often the better move. The historical library keeps its value, and an execution layer can read transcripts out of Gong and use them as one input. Sales Kriya is built to read from existing conversation-intelligence tools, including Gong, rather than requiring you to rip them out.
Why do reps resist call-recording tools?
It is the most consistent theme in low-star public reviews across the whole category, not a Gong-specific problem. Recording creates a manager-facing artefact, so the rep experiences cost with no matching benefit. The tools that survive adoption are the ones that hand the rep something usable, a drafted follow-up, a prepared next call, in return for being recorded.
Is Gong worth the price?
For an organisation with a dedicated RevOps function, a Microsoft or Salesforce standard stack, and enough reps that a single consolidated vendor beats four separate ones, generally yes. For a sub-100-rep team with no RevOps owner, the platform fee and multi-quarter rollout are where the value case gets difficult, and that is the population most of this page is written for.
What should I actually measure when comparing these?
Three things that survive a demo: the fully loaded annual cost including platform and implementation fees, the named date it is running on live deals, and what percentage of reps open it unprompted in week six. The third one predicts the outcome better than any feature grid, and it is the one no vendor volunteers.
